UKAFF 2025 Creative Minds of Tomorrow Workshops at BFI Southbank
This engaging workshop explores skills-building, career pathways, and real-world approaches to thrive in creative industries — from filmmaking and curation to cultural storytelling.
Workshop 1 (1pm - 2pm): 'The Ties That Bind Us' is a student curated short film festival that took place at Queen Mary University in March 2025, in collaboration with UK Asian Film Festival and Christ University in Bangalore as part of the AHRC India-UK project: Connecting Creative Industries & Cultural Heritage (2024-27).
In this panel discussion and Q+A, students on the scheme will reflect on the skills they developed and how they set out to highlight voices that often go unheard and spark meaningful conversations about identity, belonging, and tradition in an evolving world. The session will be chaired by one of the organisers, Alex Mehta Brown, who is the Manager of the Queen Mary Centre for Creative Collaboration.
Workshop 2 (2pm-4pm): UKAFF presents a special workshop with British Asian author Saz Vora, where you will learn how to apply film theory to short film analysis from a filmmaker’s perspective. Additionally, you will gain insight into applying these tools to your own creative film production, including generating a photographic storyboard and using key scenes to tell a story.
