The project will include a documentary film production, and an edited book collection centered on the themes of cinema heritage and memory.
The film production involves community oral history interviews around cinema, capturing perspectives of diverse intergenerational demographics in 4 cosmopolitan Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru (Bangalore), that were prominent historical, cultural and cinematic centres during the British colonial period.
The journal special issue edited essay collection and a book anthology will be co-authored by the project team, documenting India-UK cultural heritage from Indian and diasporic community perspectives on cinema-related human histories, colonial/postcolonial, pre/post Covid-19 scenarios and viewpoints in four Indian cities and key urban centres in the UK.
