Organised under the AHRC-funded India-UK Project led by Dr Ashvin Devasundaram (Reader in Global Cinemas, Queen Mary University of London), the first India-UK Creative Industries and Cultural Heritage: Annual Symposium took place on 17th October 2025 as part of the London Film Festival 2025 at the British Film Institute, London.
The event brought together commissioning directors, policymakers, film festival curators, community organisations, filmmakers, researchers, and creative industry leaders from across the UK and India for a day of vibrant discussions on cinema, heritage, and cultural collaboration. Highlights included the teaser launch of Dr Devasundaram’s forthcoming documentary, Enjoy the Show While It Lasts, currently in production as part of the project. The symposium was followed by the Tongues on Fire – UK Asian Film Festival Delegate Reception and Networking Event, fostering creative connections between the UK and India’s cultural arts sectors.
